[200William-EC] EC matters

Hello all,
You may remember at the last EC meeting on level 7 I did highlight the fact
that several members of the EC do not respond to emails, relating to the
building, which have been sent out. If one is really not interested in what
happens on a day-to-day basis in the building, then why be on the EC? We're
all busy - it doesn't take a lot of time to send out an email to ensure we
are protecting each of our own investments, and others, in the Marquis.
Remember, we don't have a full-time manager. Thankfully, some of those
active members of the EC live in the Marquis and can jump on an immediate
problem by getting in touch with George and also physically be on the
property, if George is unavailable, to assist if required.
Regarding "urgent" vs "non-urgent," there will be a variety of opinions as
to which is considered which. In the case of the water damage on level G,
I do consider this to be "urgent." Others may not.
There is no point in us waiting for the next EC meeting to decide whether or
not we should have this item considered an insurance item. We should move
on such problems immediately otherwise we risk losing the claim.
Regards,
Craig Laforest

Subject: [200William-EC] EC matters
Dear EC members,
At our next EC meeting I would like to add to the agenda a point about how
we respond and deal with EC matters.
The reason I am raising this is I find the current situation of emails to
the group EC a bit frustrating.
There are definitely benefits of using an email system, but I question
whether we are using it in the best way.
My opinion is that some matters can wait till we meet face to face and then
have discussion and agreement then action. Could these be flagged as
NON-URGENT and dealt with at the next EC meeting. Maters that are urgent,
requiring immediate decisions and action should be flagged URGENT and dealt
with by email quickly.
What I mean by URGENT are things that may cause immediate harm to person,
property or financial penalty to the Strata.
I don't think it is efficient when we have discussions about coir or carpet
or tiles and then the multitude of options and therefore multitude of
emails. As you may have noticed some members of the EC are not active in the
email discussions. Please don't misunderstand that I think these issues are
unimportant it is more about how best to get ALL of the committee to input
and in a reasonable time and not leave it to the few that are active
emailers.
Happy to discuss further when we are together on March 19th.
Regards Dave
