Hey Matt and EC,

It's not up to me to give permission or not. It needs to be a vote. I am one of 9 ( Please don't attack me personally )

Reading through the email trail of the past weeks we cannot afford to spend money on lawyers unless the committee approves and we can make cuts in other areas. No one wants to pay additional strata levies, in fact we want to get them down.

Going through the EC is reality. As is evidenced by the vents of the past few weeks relating to Visitors spots. But in a spirit of goodwill personally I do and I will always abide by the decisions. So if it is good for one, it must apply to all.

If we are going to spend money, any money, I think it needs to be decided by the EC. It's not unreasonable. Last time we hired lawyers, before your time, we had to get agreement on the costs. Which we did, this was for changing from Strata No Choice to STM.

Spending other peoples money is not day to day.

If we want to pursue this, can you please confirm with the EC know how much the lawyers fees will be and how long it will take?

I am experienced in giving lawyers good pre-draft work so that they spend as little time as possible drafting the laws. That is If i do the work for them there is less billable stuff they will need to do. Ultimately the bylaw will need an EC vote prior to drafting the final bylaw to be proposed at the AGM.

Im not accustomed to seeking permission to get tasks completed day to day. If you want it to all go through the EC. You have the wrong man. The job is to big to do by comity. This is the reason I stepped back from the Building upgrades group. The group had become to large to get anything done. There small group seems to be making progress which is a good thing.

It's not a 5 second job. The cages are not even on the plans. I will need to find out but I would say it will need to be surveyed so the net letable area can be defined etc. Leases need to be drawn up etc. Once I get a go ahead from the majority I can move forward. I can get things done fast If i dont have 8 other people putting there 2c in. Plan is to get it all organized present it and then have 1 vote then setup and AGM/EGM.

It's just that until we deal with the bureaucrats and get someone else not involved in the building to actually make a decision we cannot do the CCTV system as we don't have the budget allocated. It will be funded from the cages and the Visitor parking. As we all agreed a few weeks ago. It would be good to know how long approximately. We're already at 8 weeks this Thursday since the decision was made to look into it.
