[200WILLIAM-EC SP67851] Issues resulting from a building power outage

Dear Committee Members,

A number of issues have come to the surface as a result of yesterday and todays power outage to the building.

Here is a list of issues that I will be working through to resolve


  1.
No access to the basement. During a power outage , the lift will stop running and the roller shutters will stop working. There is therefore no way to get into the basement when this happens. You can only exit the building from the car park via the fire stairs if you are already inside the basement.
( My proposal is to put locks on the outside of the fire doors to the fire stairwells that run into the car park. Every resident would then be given a fire stair key.)

  2.
Failed Emergency Lights. Some of the emergency lights in the stairwells are not working. The fire contractors are currently doing the annual fire inspections so should pick this up in their report. I will follow this up with them

       3. Lift outage - If someone is inside a lift when the building loses power, they may get stuck inside. I will speak to Litronic to see if there is a way that the lift can be automatically brought to the ground floor and the doors open

    4. Back-up power generator The building should have a backup power generator that kicks in when there is a power outage. I will look into this
