[200WILLIAM-EC SP67851] Repair to the Level G wall

Hi Matt,
I am thinking, is it possible to get landlords to have insurance for damage to common property on their landlord insurance? Also, if we have difficulty getting this tenant to pay for the damage, can we hold the owner liable?
Regards John

Hi John.
That’s an interesting point regarding landlord insurance. I was thinking of the buildings policy. I had a cursory look throughone kf my landlord insurance policy and could see no mention of damage to common property or property outside that owned by the landlord. I guess the policy I have might be different to others. Not sure if we have any regress toward the owner there. Perhaps Sarah can comment. It’s an interesting point.
Warm regards
Matt
Matt.

I agree,
It needs to be fixed properly. The culprit needs to pay, or the owner’s landlord insurance should cover it.

I agree. It needs to be repaired to match original.

I have looked at this area of the G elevator buttons several times and thought it was a quick job. I know it’s going to be expensive for the culprit, but I believe it needs to be redone.

I will wait to see what eveyone else thinks. But the fact that a few people in the building have commented to me makes me think we should likely ask William to follow up a more complete repair.

Yup, forgot that for a moment. You might remember my initial observation was that a chunk of sheeting would need to be replaced. Over to you.

I had a look at it and it looks like whoever William got to do it just filled the cracks sanded (poorly) and then painted. The only way really to fix that bit properly is to replace a fair amount of that sheet and cut in the lift box in again. I job done by a Gyprocker that would i guess take about 2 hours over a couple of days. One day to fit and set and the next day to sand. Then the painter would need to come back an repaint. The lift guys would also need I think to come and disconnect / reconnect the cabling to the button panel. What do you all think are you happy with the patch or do you want it done like new. I can get William to arrange.
