Darren I will address this to you but hope that any recipient will feel free to respond if they have pertinent information about the subject.
When I moved my stuff into the building in January I was told that the curtains would be in the elevator because builders were coming and going to do work on the roof. Over time I saw no evidence of workers, and yet the curtains remained.
Yesterday I decided to go to level 7 and was absolutely shocked by what I saw. My key seems not to allow me on to the terrace but I photographed what I saw through the closed door.
Yesterday the hole was full of water , early this morning it isn't, the only conclusion is that it has been absorbed by the building acting as a sponge.
It appears that someone has started to explore the roof under the membrane but they have not continued. There is a gaping hole that must be at lease 300mm deep and clearly breeches the membrane and there has been no attempt to cover this work. One can only imagine the quantity of water that has been absorbed by the building over the last few weeks and way more rain is forecast. This water will appear somewhere inside the building without a doubt and must be causing serious damage.
Someone must have ordered and authorised this work and must be aware that it has been abandoned. Could someone tell me what is actually happening here please, but in the meantime, preferably today get some tarps laid over the area, sealed at the edges and weighed down. Damage must have already occurred but we can at least take some action now to minimise any further damage until repairs are agreed upon.
This seems to be a pretty serious situation and I hope that I am able to get some reassurance today from whoever is managing this project. At the very least please get the site watertight.
