The building is not designed for balcony run compressors.  It requires 
penetrations into the building which can cause more leaks and there  is 
no common condenser water drain so water will drip of balcony's . Our 
building is stepped so balcony's can be above apartments transmitting 
compressor noise and condenser water into neighbors apartments and 
damage common property (Balcony is common property) For all these 
reasons it has been no many times and should continue to be.  Owners 
should also consider using a large HVAC company that understand large 
building wide installations. It seems that many cowboy HVAC suppliers 
suggest split systems because that is all they are qualified to install.
