[200William-EC SP67851] Gym

Hi,

I had a thought that a low cost idea could be to simply remove the rubber
mats that still emit what smells like a toxic odour. As they are now 2 years
old and are still releasing the very strong chemical smell, I assume that
they will continue to emit chemical vapour over the next two years.

My main concern is the chemical vapour being emitted may actually be
detrimental to your health, out weighting the positives of working out in
the gym. A worry I have is whether the volume of air needed to be moved will
be sufficiently achieved by the louvers.

I would suggest that you might stick rubber to the bottom of the running
machine to insulate any noise from its movements.

Regards,

Edward

Good call.

When i was onsite last week with the builders we discussed the matter of
naturally ventilating the gym and the best method to do so.

- Install a louvre to the top of the west and east side glass
panels. This will allow a cross flow throughout the room.

I didn't raise this today as i had since discussed the matter with Sharp
Cooling who explained the original alternative to the absent windows.

The handy man estimated $1500

Hi George,
We also spoke at the meeting about replacing one of the windows with some
ventilation. Which may clear the air a bit in the gym. Could we get a quote
from Sharp to replace the window (in the picture attached with some 1/2
louvers and perhaps some mechanical ventilation (exhaust) This should make
things smell a lot better in there.

Matt.

Hi Rob,

You may be aware several years ago the committee decided to not upgrade or
repair any of the gym equipment. The bikes and cross trainers functioned
though the treadmill was beyond repair. Also at the time the A/C unit in the
gym began to fail and later report being beyond repair.

Over the years residents have been advised that the treadmill will not be
replaced in the immediate future. This left the gym unused therefore I
didn't arrange for a replacement A/C.

The previous flooding in the Gym prompted the insurance assessor to request
a report on the treadmill. The report from the gym technician confirmed the
machine had short circuited. It appears the owners corporation was paid out
the replacement and a order was issued to have it replaced though I'm
waiting on a confirmation from the Strata Manager's assistant to see where
the treadmill is.

I have spoken with Sharp Cooling (mechanical contractor for the building)
and he informs me that Gym room has no windows but has been fitted with an
A/C unit to circulate air.

Sharp Cooling have quoted $2105 plus gst to have the unit replaced.

So there will be a treadmill replaced shortly which leave the A/C unit which
will need to be voted.

Hi George

One of the discussion points at the AGM last week related to the gym on 7.
The issue was raised by Edward. Would you mind giving us an update on the
gym status in relation to the equipment and accessibility. It was also
discussed ventilation was an issue for any one who wants to use the gym. Can
you provide us with a bit of background info at this stage so we can take it
to the next stage to have the gym fully operational.

Many thanks

ROB
