[200William-EC] 7TH FLOOR DOOR

I agree with Shane that we must abide by the fire safety regulations which are inspected annually and no doubt we as a building pay handsomely for the advice. There is some justified concern about the question of the locked door in the lobby, I don't pretend to understand how a fire would flow, that is why we employ experts.
To allay all our concerns and to make sure we are not doing anything to that would jeopardise peoples safety or our exposure to being negligent can I suggest George invites the fire safety contractor to the EC meeting on March 19th? Or at the very least prepare a statement explaining the set-up.
We can all hear it first hand than then make an informed decision.

So to your argument Instead of being trapped at the top of the fire escape at level 7 you would be trapped in the lift lobby on level 7. Now you could have your swipe with you but then the doors lock off at 9 and you could say you could smash the glass but those doors should be safety glass so it's going to be heard to break. If they are not safety glass then you will likely be found in a pool of your own blood at level 7 trying to get out the doors. So should we also unlock the roof glass doors pertinently allowing 24/7 roof access because that's what your proposing here.

This locked door could be a disaster, waiting to happen in case of an emergency evacuation of the building. IF during a major fire people used the fire stairs to go down and they became blocked for whatever reason, there is no exit on any level. Level 7 door must be kept unlocked in order that people can escape onto the roof.

>> Hello George,
>>
>> The insurance company visited this morning and I had to let them in as they were expecting you or one of your team to be here.
>>
>> I unlocked the gym door for them, but couldn’t leave them alone because they didn’t have a key to get out of level 7 to the elevators, once they had completed their work. This door is permanently locked.
>>
>> I have raised the problem of the locked door on level 7 before. IF there is a fire emergency and people try to escape to the roof, they would not able to get out of the fire escape stairs because the door is always locked on level 7. Would you please organize to have the lock on level 7 taken off and a simple handle installed.
>>
>> Also, the insurance company confirmed that the fire door on level 6 (damaged during the water plant problem) will be replaced.

>> Thank you.
