[200William-EC] LONG RANGE READER TO GARAGE DOOR

Good Moring Matt,

The second option allows the user to be tracked, just like your current
air key.

The original system with the dip switches does not allow a user to be
tracked. In 2005 the system was made redundant due this is flaw.

Hi Guys,
I dont think you have understood this quote at all. The Second option
is not proximity transponder type where you drive close to the sensor
and it just open's This is simply a remote control. With an open button.
In fact it's a cludge there is a differnt open button depending on if
you are inside or outside the building. The Door controller already has
this ability. Just go buy yourself a remote and set the 11 switches on
the back to the correct code and you are working. The remotes are worth
about $50 from jaycar. Nothing else to do.

As George stated in an earlier email this method was disconnected (by
making the code unknown) and the readers installed so logs are made of
entry/exit. The Airkey system is slightly more secure as it has rolling
code but in other ways. Lost remotes logging etc I think it's the same.
Im not sure there is enough benefit. The problem with all these systems
is people usually leave remotes in the car. In the Proxy point II tag
system the transponder is affixed to the car (like toll readers) again a
stolen car can just drive out the door.

This stuff does not magically work from your wallet or key chain. The
way I see it there area two choices.

Just make the code known so people can go buy $50 Elma remote and use
it. Cost to strata $0. Change the code every 12 months for safety.
Do nothing and keep a higher level of security. Cost to strata $0.

Matt.

	Bingo! Good news George.

And does this mean the same for exiting the building George?
That exit arm is a nightmare to have to coordinate sometimes when trying
to scan while sitting behind the wheel of the car!!

	Hi All

First, thanks George for sending through the details.

Obviously the lower cost from $4150 + GST is more appealing.
However, from a technical and adequacy perspective does it do the job of
not requiring people to lean out their widows and swipe?

	Thanks

	Hi George,

Thanks for this, can you let me know if we received competitive
quotes/ If so, would it be possible we can see them. It's a LOT of
money at present for a non-essential item, so I would be voting no at
this stage

	Many thanks

	A definite YES from me.

As discussed at the AGM, not only does this new system provide
safety for the driver behind the wheel (you don't have to roll your
window down or open your locked door), but it saves one from having to
stretch out the window to scan the card. Several times the garage entry
area is used by people urinating or by homeless people and it is
becoming a safety hazard to have to open the garage door from the car,
in the current manner.

	Regards,

	Craig Laforest

DOOR

	Good Morning All,

From the minutes of the AGM we have been asked to obtain a quote
for a long range reader to be installed to the garage door.

The price range is approximately $9000.

You may recall back in 2005, the hand held remote control to the
garage door was made redundant and replaced with the FOB (grey air key).
This was introduced to allow for all users to be monitored. It has
worked well since.

The hand held remote control system can be reactivated if you
wish.

Please provide me with a yes or no to follow through.
