Matt,

 

You have noted below “the lifts are BMC”.

 

However, the BMC is not living in our residential building of 38 apartments.

 

The fan in elevator number one is extremely loud, not “a little loud”, as you state. To reiterate, from my February 17 email below, I go into many apartment buildings in Sydney, and I never hear such a loud noise emanating from their lift extraction fans.

 

You stated, “I don’t believe there is any reason for the BMC to consider spending money just so it’s quiet in the lifts”. With respect Matt, who are you supporting? The BMC in this matter or the residential owners? I have had several people mention to me the loud fan noise in lift one.

 

In an earlier email today, I invited other members of the EC to listen to this loud noise emanating from the fan in lift number one.  I really don’t believe it would be expensive for the BMC (Arnold) to make some modifications to the fan in lift number one. Another small step toward making our residential building more desirable to live in.

Hi Craig,  
You would not receive any notification. Lifts are BMC. The BMC was informed when it was done years back.  Comparing the lifts in our tiny building is not really the same as Elan. It's a much bigger building with lift motor rooms and 8 lifts over 40 floors. Sure, the fans are a little loud, but they do not affect anyone's peace and enjoyment of their lot as far as I'm aware. I don't believe there is any reason for the BMC to consider spending money on new fans just so it's quiet in the lifts. How long do you spend in them? I don't believe it's time to waste money on this, but if the committee thinks it is the an issue, it should be raised with the BMC.   

 

Greg will not be acting on your demands, Craig. As you will note in the SMS, lifts are BMC. If the committee wants me to raise it with Arnold and get quotes, I await the groups instructions.

Matt, elevator 1 is ridiculously noisy. Go in there and listen. No other apartment building I go into, has such a loud noise. I have friends who live in the Elan, where you have an apartment also. The Elan’s fans are not noisy at all.

 

Greg, please bring this fan down to a lower level. Have our contractor make the change asap.

Hi Craig,

 The extraction fans in the lifts were changed out for higher capacity fans to comply with air exchanges rules in the aftermath of COVID.  They do make a bit more noise then the older ones.  I dont believe there have been any complaints about people hearing them inside lots.

When I moved into my home, the elevators had no noise coming from them. I have noted that number 1 (and perhaps number 2) has this problem. I’ve sent number 1 up to level 7, while I was in elevator number 2 at G level and the noise is so loud, I couldn’t tell if number 2 also has a problem!
