Good morning all,

I have not received any questions relating to the Gym since the closure. Waiting it out might be the best approach. Thanks

Kind regards,

Darren Vignes

Hi Adam,

Im not a medical doctor but it seems like fairly low risk to me. The way I understand it the lift is far more risky environment. My thoughts were more of a duty of care / liability stand point. As you say I have never seen anyone use it either. Given that I think might be better to hold off. That way we will not spend any more money and cover ourselves. We could also see if anyone complains that it has not opened and perhaps reassess then.

Darren has anyone spoke about the Gym ?

Kind Regards

Matt

Matt thank you for all this info. very useful.
Maybe locking the shower/toilet and putting a sign that says one person only? (tbh i've neve seen anyone in there except me!).
Alternatively, we could just keep it closed until all the rules are lifted? (which might only be a month away or so).
any other thoughts?
Adam

Hi Adam,

I have done a bit of reading regarding Gym's It appears the rules around re-opening are quite complex. We need to do a so called "COVID Safe plan" which must include increased cleaning and sanitation, Social distancing rules (4sq m) closure of toilet/shower and strict monitoring of the environment to insure cleaning of equipment between uses.

I had a word with the doormen at the Elan where they are opening up there Gym on Monday. There plan is quite complex it limits the Gym to 4 persons (Their Gym is quite big 50sq meters at least).

If we restarted out plan must include limiting the Gym to one person or one group that live together. We could install locks on the shower/toilet without to much problem and leave hand sanitizer and cleaning spray in the Gym for use. However the increase cleaning and monitoring might be prohibitive. The Elan have cleaning staff on site throughout the day given the size of the complex they also have 24/7 concierge that can monitor the gym by video to enforce social distancing. I dont think we have the capacity to do ether of those things and although I believe the risk to re-opening would be minimal the government requirements still need to be met.

We could leave the responsibility on people to follow the rules and clean after use but im unsure without getting a considered opinion if this would meet the requirements.

Matt

Hi all, I hope everyone's well!
I tend to agree with Katherine, probably not worth going to extra effort.
If we could save some $$ I'd be happy to reduce the number of times the cleaner comes.
cheers,
Adam

Hi Folks,
Great you’re raising our awareness Matt but I doubt one such clean a day would control the spread in view of all the comings and goings in the building. While we’re on the subject I’ve been thinking lately that though it’s nice, the cleaning of the building every day (except weekends?) seems a little excessive. Anyone agree?
Cheers, Katherine French.

Measure seem to be extra cleaning of common area's like lift buttons exit buttons those sorts of things and closing of optional common areas like roof / gym. Might be good if we have a quick discussion before the panic sets in. I dont think there is any need to over reach or over react with this. One building Im involved with is in total panic and has way over reached. Let's not go down that path but instead a considered measured approach.
