Barney, It’s about time you took the time to read the emails that Robin has been sending out about this particular matter.  At least pay him the courtesy of responding earlier. He has outlined very, very carefully the concerns regarding safety issues he has had (and I have had also) with winding down a car window to use the fob to gain access to the garage or exit the garage. You may not be aware that it was ‘deemed to be important.’ If your memory serves you correctly you will note it was brought up at the last AGM and we were all given an indepth response by Matt that the police recommended that the old style heavy remote controls were not acceptable.   Now Robin has come up with an alternative. It’s not in the budget but it is a simple solution and cheap way to handle the safety concerns many of us, who live in the building go through every day, particularly in this area.  I have driven up to the garage several times and had to wind down my window while drug users are tucked in the corner of the drive way. Again, pay Robin the courtesy of reading his email thoroughly along with any others sent out and respond in a  quicker manner. Craig Laforest  From: ec-bounces at 200william.com [mailto:ec-bounces at 200william.com] On Behalf Of Barney Kitay

Subject: [200William-EC SP67851] Remotes for garage door Dear EC, Great News!! With some help I have come across a remote control solution that not only addresses the security concerns but also comes at negligible cost.  Tesnik Security has advised that they can supply and install a system which will open the the garage door for a very reasonable $880 or $1360 (ex GST), depending on whether we need one receiver unit or two. This is determined by whether the receiver can be positioned to receive a remote's signal from either sides of the door, or whether one unit is required each side. The remote system is wired in parallel so those who wish can still use the card reader. The cost of each controller is then a reasonable $45 (ex GST).  Tesnik also think it is a great system that addresses any security concerns which I know everyone is concerned by - rightfully so! So the really good news is that: - the remotes are programmed just like the fobs, so they can be enabled and disabled and are attributed to each owner/user. - the design of the fob is also such that it can be kept in the key ring, and is not the chunky visor remotes of yesteryear. - being remote controlled means that you can wait in a locked secured car while the door goes up and down, feeling safer in the driveway.   I am really excited that there is a reasonable solution that we can implement which adds convenience and security. I have been chatting with a few people about this solution, including Michael who asked to be cc'd into this email. And it seems great timing too. Could we please work this into the sinking fund budget. We could potentially have the upgrade done at the same time the other security works are completed. In the mean time I will get a copy of the advice from Tesnik to share.  Many thanks Robin
