Hi All,
Thanks everyone for attending the meeting last night. I think we got
some things done and a special thank you to Ed and Rowan. You have both
gone way beyond the call of duty here.
Im almost of the opinion that with people like Ed and Rowan and all the
other diligent members of the EC we could dispense with a strata manager
all together and save some serious bucks. But that's for another day.
I wanted to follow up with an explanation for me voting no regarding
the dog bylaw. I was all set on entering the meeting to vote yes and I
don't often change my mind.
But the truth is that Rowan made some great arguments and I was swayed
during the evening. I put my self in Rowan's place, he made the
statement. That him and his partner sought out a building that was pet
free as his partner is both allergic and dogs caused her anxiety. He
also stated that he would be forced to move if pets were introduced. The
bylaw had serious consequences now in my mind. However it was the
comment by Ms Dennison that secured my no vote during Rowans talk. He
said that his partner was extremely frightened of dogs. To which Ms
Dennison scofed "She could always get therapy". This was reprehensible
in my opinion and secured my No vote.
I am still of the opinion that we should allow pets in the building and
am confident that I will vote yes after some amended changes to the
bylaw go through. Pia has informed us that we can have a Paper EGM and
add all the bylaws that we were originally talking about prior to the
meeting being called. I will be proposing an emended bylaw for pets that
includes some safeguards for both allergic and people that are
apprehensive around dogs.
I hope you all can support that. Thanks also to Pia. Your comments and
assistance were both usefull and informative last night.
Kind Regards.
Matt.
