I originally thought that tiling the whole area from the G level lifts through to the William Street exit would be a good idea.  However, Diana has made a good point re walking dirt through from the street and straight into the lifts.  If we are now considering a coir matting/tile combination...............I think we could simply just replace the old carpet with something new  (a little more commercial type) and hopefully still be covered under insurance.  This would mean however, we need to get an insurance assessor in asap so that we don't end up paying anything.

Can we all decide now on this 'free' alternative asap and ask George to get the assessor in straight away?

Hi Matt et al,

I agree except that the only problem with tiles is that the dirt will not be walked off until the traffic enters the lift and our new carpet. I think maybe an extended door mat as a replacement of the present carpet would be better. This effectively wipes shoes as they progress across it and then they should be ok in the lift. As long as coir matting can be vacuumed.

The other problem is Thomas from Williams Treat and his Tank kitchen.
He must be stopped using the toilet as a food waste disposal or whatever he's doing. There are bins in the street and doesn't he have garbage facilities for his uneaten dim sum? Maybe the threat of withholding toilet facilities (I know... we can't, but he could toddle up to O'Malleys and bugger up their loos instead). Hmm

I think the foot traffic on level E is lighter than on G. When I was in the lift this morning I noticed a lot of stuff on the lift carpet that looked as though it had been walked in after the cleaners had been.

What say you all to the coir matting idea?
