You know Rob, there is nothing wrong with having homeless people staying in
our building.

I have worked with homeless people who are great, model citizens and I also
work as a volunteer at Amnesty International where I see people who want a
new environment. Don't generalize that taxpayers money doesn't help some of
the people who may be in a less fortunate situation than yourself.

Hi All,

Review of the access control uncovered that the access card (air key) to
apartment G05 was accessed to the roof on Sunday between 1 and 5.30pm. The
video footage shows a few people sitting on the East side planter box wall
(above 602) drinking. I'm not sure how this matter will be dealt with as I
wasn't able to see anyone throw any bottles over.

Apart from this incident we have recently received complaints from a
resident and the cleaner about the threatening behaviour of the tenant and
visitors to apartment G05. I have recently asked Maxine to issue a letter to
the resident and agent. I have also left a message for the agent to
telephone me to discuss this issue. I'm hoping to have this tenant evicted.
The apartment appears to be a sub leased through Bridge Housing and Morton &
Morton.

Di you need to call the police. This is now clearly a police matter.

There was someone on your level at 5.30 Ish on Sunday I heard the lift
beeping like the doors were being held open the display for the lifts
indicated it was on 6 this was just after I noticed the security was off I
was carrying Allan around at the time so I didn't go up and investigate I
assumed it was you or Craig moving something.

Perhaps there's more to it.

Hi George and All,

I have discovered that my front door was vandalised, also on Sunday. I
didn't really register it until yesterday afternoon as I was so preoccupied
with the deck. The handle is hanging down and there are notches in it. I
thought maybe it just needed adjusting as I only noticed the angle of the
handle - Phil noticed the notches later - luckily the lock held but I will
have to get it fixed/changed.

Maybe you could have a look at it first George - (I don't think this
happened during the day - my family or I would have noticed) but it ties in
time-wise with what happened on the roof.

Please advise what I should do regarding all this. The chairs on the deck
have tiny bits of glass embedded in the mesh... Phil's not happy.

Regards,

Di

I could not find a bylaw to cover alcohol on the roof. Unless I have an
older version. Really I would think if it was 5 bottles this is not an
accident but more a police matter. Have you considered involving the police.
As this is reckless behavior perhaps the building should involve the police
on your behalf. George should have no problem identifying the people. They
will be on camera from the roof and then a Key just needs to be matched up
in the time logs.

Matt.

Hi All,

If Craig is right (and he mostly is) we already have this by-law. That would
be great. But it obviously isn't working. We may not be able to evict people
for drinking, but for hurling multiple bottles (at least 5) onto my terrace
where most exploded (and I am still trying to unglue the tiny shards dried
on with beer and get bits out of the crevices)... surely that constitutes
dangerous behaviour which is culpable and reason for eviction??

If the by-law doesn't exist, and we just have a sign on the notice-board..
well I agree reluctantly, maybe we should go for it. Sorry Andrew, I'm no
wowser, and I appreciate your input. Maybe ban groups of more than 3 or 4
unless alcohol-free? Too hard..

Cheers,

Di

Dear Committee,

The Executive Committee can approve the drafting of a by-law, I can obtain a
quote from a lawyer for the drafting of the by-law. You wish to consider
what other restrictions you may wish to put into place in relation to the
use of the rooftop.

However a by-law can not contravene any law or Act that is in place, you
would be unable to evict anyone immediately for the breach of by-law.

Let's start by looking at how we can do it, rather than how we can't do it.

What we could do is send a notice around to all tenants and owners. Show
them the images Di has shown us. See if anyone is man enough to own up. I
doubt they will, bloody gutless wonders.

Then do a follow up and say because of the actions of one irresponsible
party, alcohol is now banned and they will be required to sign an agreement
to that effect. Any new tenants that come in have to sign a clause as part
of the lease. New owners have to do the same. The penalty for breaking the
rules would be immediate eviction.

Simple.

Let's start with instigating an official bi-law. How do we do that? I am
sure there will be 100's of bureaucrats all wanting some sort of fee or
other in order to get it done.

Bugger this, it's a joke and a danger.

I vote for a total ban on alcohol on the rooftop, immediately.

These bloody people take things for granted, they behave as if they are the
only people to care about, absolutely no consideration for others, it's a
real Sydney thing, me me me and fuck every one else.

I vote we ban alcohol forthwith from the roof top.

What say you?

I also think we should find out who the culprits are that caused the damage
to Dianne's apartment and either have the Police pay them a visit or fine
them for the mess.

Bloody pigs.

Hi All,

In view of what I woke up to find on my deck - see pic - shards of glass in
all directions, ditto Rawsons Retreat RED, beer and tonic bottles full and
smashed, (George is looking into it) may we ban weekend access to the roof
after 6PM until this is solved? I had children here yesterday and I hate to
think what might have happened if the bottles sailed over while they were
here. Not much mess on Level 7. I copped the lot.

cheers,

Di
