Hi All,
I was enjoying breakfast this morning when the head of a bolt that
holds up the awning grill on the balcony dropped to the ground. A quick
check off all the blots noted a few missing and a few more that the
heads have sheared off. Two fell off on inspection. These are of the
galvanized self drilling type that are intended for use in holding on
roofing etc. Im not to sure they are intended to suspend such a heavy
steel grill. But in any case if enough of them were to corrode through
teemed with the missing ones a safety issue may arise.
I will replace the corroded one's on my balcony but I suggest other
owners have a quick inspection to insure it's just isolated to my
apartment. I know the previous owner had something heavy suspended from
our apartment as the grid was bent when i moved in. So it may be just mine.
See attached photo for what to look for.
Matt.
